Are you interested in growing your company?

I know it seems like a silly question, but in today’s economy a lot of businesses are just trying to stay open, let alone grow. The news is saying that there’s about 9.6% unemployment right now nationwide, and about 10% in Ohio (for August, 2010). That doesn’t exactly sound prosperous, I know.

But if you look at it the other way around, 90.4% (90% in Ohio) of the population is still working! That’s a good enough percentage of potential customers to grow your business. The snarl is: HOW to grow your business.

Have you thought about expanding onto the internet?

Millions of people are using the internet to look up all kind of things. In fact, the Google Search Engine in now used as a verb. Have you heard “Just google it?” That shows that the internet is a staple of life now for a whole lot of people. You’d probably be surprised to know that 77% of the U.S. population uses the internet. That’s approximately 266 million people who could find and buy from you on the internet. Sound better now?

Does the thought of going on the internet scare you?

To most of the population, the internet is just “there”. They don’t know how it works, nor do they care. It finds what they’re looking for, and that’s good enough for them. But if you want to put your business “out there”, then you’d think you should know the ins and outs of doing it right. Well, I’m here to tell you that you don’t. You don’t have to know the particulars of the internet. I know enough for the both of us.

Are you able to talk and/or write about your company and its services with enthusiasm?

Only you, the owner/manager knows your business and your customers, like no one else. You spend your “free” time thinking about just that.

You have ideas. You talk about them all the time to customers, colleagues, and family. You probably talk about your business to anyone who would listen, isn’t that so? Certainly you can express that on paper, right? Writing 5 articles about the different aspects of your business should be easy. It’s just like talking to your customers, except on paper.

Would you be willing to have someone expand your business onto the internet at no cost to you?

Ah, now you’re starting to become suspicious, and rightly so. Nothing is free. You know it, and I know it. If you read the question closely, though, it doesn’t say “free”. It says “at no cost”. There’s a big difference between the two.

If someone gave you $1,000, would you be adverse to giving $500 back to them? You’re still getting $500 more than you had before. You’d be $500 ahead. Hmmm? Think about it.

That’s what I’m proposing.

Here’s what I can do.

I’m willing to consult with you to grow your business on the internet. I know the internet, you know your business. See where this is going? Together we may be able to put your foot in the door of the 266 million potential customers in the US. Is this going to happen overnight. Certainly NOT.

We would start with the local market, and then expand from there.

Have you googled your business lately? Try it, you may be surprised. For certain business searches Google brings up a special section, a map section, of the local businesses for that search, and where they are located. It brings it as the first thing you see on the first page. Is your business there? If it isn’t, it should be.

Think about it. Someone searching for your service or product googles it. We both know that people tend to take the easy path, so the chances are very good that they would go to the site of the first business listed. As research has shown again and again, the first one on the results page gets more traffic than anyone else. Fact.

That’s what I’m offering you.

A chance at more traffic, more customers. What do you have to do? Just write about the business that you already constantly think about and talk about anyway. Seem too easy?

The catch…

Victory Martin is only me. I have time to take on just 2 new clients a month. Not forever, mind you. After I get enough “no-cost” clients to keep me at the income level I want, then this offer is over. I figure, um, in a couple months, or so.

Another catch is…

I won’t take on more than one similar business in the same area. For instance, I won’t accept 2 construction companies in the same area. I’m not going to compete against myself for the #1 local spot on Google, you see.
